International Business Machines pushes for open innovation in corporate machine learning

At the technology summit, IBM's David Cox showcased a compelling argument for collaborative development in business generative AI. The executive, Vice President of AI models and director at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, emphasized the significance of collaboration in innovation, particularly in the current machine learning environment.
David highlighted the nuanced nature of openness in artificial intelligence, questioning the simplistic perception of the idea. He noted the expanding network of accessible frameworks from diverse origins, including technology corporations, academic institutions, and countries.
However, he expressed concerns about the quality of accessibility in various AI language systems, observing that certain models provide little more than a "bag of numbers" devoid of openness in their development processes.
